Statement of Faith
Let's Pray Today is an independent organization without institutional
ties to a particular church or denomination. Our Statement of
Faith is focused on the truths that have bound Christians
together through the ages, across the boundaries of time,
place, race, denomination and tradition.
The Bible. We believe the Bible to be inspired by
the Holy Spirit, the only infallible, authoritative Word of
God in all matters of faith and conduct. (Deuteronomy 4:2;
Psalm 19:7-9; Proverbs 30:5,6; I Corinthians 2:13; Galatians
1:8-9; II Timothy 3:15-17; II Peter 1:20-21; Revelation
22:18-19 )
God. We believe that there is but one living and
true God, infinite and all knowing, perfect in all His
attributes, one in essence, eternally existing in three
Persons-Father, Son and Holy Spirit-each equally deserving
worship and obedience (Deut. 6:4; Mat. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14).
God the Father. We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal
God; perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We
believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of
each person, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He
saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus
Christ. (Genesis 21:33; Isaiah 40:28; Exodus 33:14; John 4:24;
Revelation 4:8; Romans 11:33-34; Jeremiah 32:17; Ephesians
1:19-20; Jeremiah 31:3; Romans 5:8; II Samuel 24:14; I John
5:14-15)
God the Son. We believe in God the Son, Jesus Christ
the Savior, the only begotten Son of God, in His deity, in His
virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His
substitutionary and atoning death through His shed blood, in
His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of
the Father, in His continuous intercession for His people, and
in His personal return in power and in glory. (John 1:1, 2,
14, 18; John 3:16; Luke 1:34-35, & 24:27; Hebrews 4:15;
Romans 3:23-26, & 8:34; Mark 8:38; Matthew 24:30; I
Corinthians 15:3-4)
God the Holy Spirit. We believe in God the Holy Spirit,
the Helper and Comforter, in His daily guidance and revelation
of truth, in His conviction of sin, righteousness and
judgment, and in His indwelling presence at the moment of
salvation, enabling believers to live godly lives. (John
3:5-8, 14:16-17, & 16:13-14; Acts 1:8; I Corinthians
12:13; Ephesians 4:30-32, & 5:18)
The Church. We believe in
the spiritual unity of all believers in the body of our Lord
Jesus Christ, of which He is the head. The purpose of
the church is to glorify God by growing in faith and knowledge
of God through instruction in the Word, fellowship, obedience
to His Word, and advancing and communicating the gospel to
the entire world (Mat. 28:19; Acts 2:38-43; Eph 1:22; Eph.
4:5, 13-16; Eph. 5:23; Heb. 10: 24-25).
Sin. We believe
that everyone is born with a sinful nature, separated from God
and in need of salvation. Rebirth through the Holy Spirit is
absolutely essential for salvation through the repentance of
sin and the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
(John 3:5-8; John 5:24; Ephesians 1:6-7, 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; I
Peter 1:23; Acts 2:21)
Salvation. We believe salvation is wholly
of God by grace on the basis of the redemption of Jesus
Christ through His shed blood, and not on the basis of
human merit or works (John 1:12; Eph. 1:7; 2:8-10; 1 Peter
1:18-19; 2 Tim 1:9).
Works. We believe every believer
is called to purposefully complete works which God has specifically prepared in advance
for him/her to do. Works further God's Kingdom on earth and are for His glory alone.
At end of the age, every believer will be rewarded
based on the works s/he has done in love. (Matt 16:27; 1 Cor 13:1-3; Gal 6:9-10;
2Tim 2:21).
